Motion Graphics

I wanted to create an advertisement for a brand, using some of the current tools we learned in class. I started off by drawing a story board and then searching for some stock footage online. Then finding the appropriate audio to work with this piece.

Uruguayan’s Aparato Post did this spec work with just 2 guys, 300$ and 6 month of time.

The 3D animation has been completed, now I need to apply a chroma key to erase the background. : ) yeah baby.

Final Story Board

For my Final Project, I intend on working some more on my mid-term which was a animated piece that has a religious look and feel. This time I intend on conveying a very powerful narrative and applying the usage of maya to create a true 3-d look and feeling. The piece should last 2 to 3 minutes. Here are a few images.

Here is the story board for my claymation animation, even though I am very sure that I am going to stay from it. Creativity should never be conformed to one structure or format, new ideas are constantly being generated and implemented.

Story Board

Week 1: Our first assignment was to create a Flip Book. A Flip book is a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. My Flip is based on a character running and throwing a spear towards a duck. The spear hits the duck and there is blood gradually growing in size from it. I will post a recorded video of the flip book.

Waltz With Bashir: I haven’t had an oppurtunity to watch the full movie but based on the trailer and several clips on youtube I can give my assessment of the film. Firstly its not in english and I don’t particularly like having to read sub titles during a movie. This is a modern foreign animation, the images and style is very clean and simple. Due to the experience that I have in animation majority of the film was done in after effects and flash. The images are vector images done in illustrator and the backgrounds were created in photoshop. The narrative is based on the great. I will add more to this once I have seen the entire film. After finally seeing the entire film, its an amazing documentary showing the violence and degrading aspects of war.

Creating my Final Communication Lab project

I really enjoyed creating this piece, it allowed me to use some of the skills in which I had previously acquired in after effects. I wanted to created something that was beautiful and inspiring to look at. I used a camera angle on the z axis to take you through the space. The environment gives the illusion of it being 3-dimensional when it’s really 2-dimensional. The background and sky was created in Photoshop and a lighting effect was used to give it life and character. The most time consuming part was actually setting up the stage, this took the most work. At first I had skulls and weird creatures with in the environment but after showing it to few friends I decided to take them out. I also highly recommend getting this book neubauwelt I was first introduced to it whilst acquiring my degree at Pratt, it has amazing silhouette some that are used inside of this animation.

Final Project

Story Board

I plan on bring this story to life by using my previous training and knowledge of this program. I intend on using very highly quality images and vector shapes to create a 3-d environment. Some of the images will come from, Apple, whilst others from neubauwelt. Camera angles are very important to bring this piece to life. After effects is an amazing tool in which I still have a great deal to learn but I understand the applications of this program.

Group Project

This is a group project in which Brien and I had to join Jim and Jon. This project was quite interesting with the working dynamics and relationships of members within a group. I really enjoyed working on this piece. Brien and I ended up interviewing 12 people which was edited to 3 people. More about the inspiration can be viewed from here.

Playing with sound

This piece was done in premiere 3.0 a video and sound editing program. I ended up walking around my neighborhood and recorded several different sounds around me. After I presented this piece in class the overall conclusion was that terror existed all around us in nyc.

Extra Stop Animation Project
Stop motion and animating inanimate objects are very difficult. Firstly it requires endless photos and different angles to bring a piece to life. In this animation, I decided to really challenge myself by creating a piece that told a very passionate love story between the lap and toilet paper ha ha ha. The audio track is very minimal and allows you to interpret its meaning. I seem to ending quite a few of my projects with a visual ITP message : ) where creativity flourish.

Animation Group Project
For this particular project I teamed up with Meredith and Paul to create a soccer narrative. Over 600 photos were taken to create this from 3 to 4 different angles. Once compressed the intro was created in After effects.

Using Photoshop
Photoshop is a tool that is used to manipulate images in many ways. Whether you are using it to crop or color correct an image, it is a very powerful tool. But like all tools it has to be used wisely

This video was created in less than 30 mins. Our concept was based on “how to make a video ” and the conceptual process of brain storming in a group. The editing was done in imovie a very efficient tool for quick editing.
